Connecting a distributed laboratory network

For a large multinational provider of life-sciences technologies, analytical instruments, laboratory products and services, one role-aware platform connects inquiries, resource booking, events, approvals and communication across a multi-site laboratory operation.

The challenge

Scheduling was only one part of the problem.

A laboratory request can span divisions, sites, equipment, responsible team members and external participants. It may require approvals, supporting documents, consumable details, schedule validation, status updates and follow-up feedback.

As requirements evolved, the platform also needed to support multi-division inquiries, multi-lab events, walk-ins and different validation rules—without fragmenting the operational picture.

01

Shared resources

Prevent competing visits, bookings and events from creating resource conflicts.

02

Complex hand-offs

Keep context intact as requests move through assignment, approval and delivery.

03

Multiple roles

Give participants, specialists, sales teams and administrators the right tools and visibility.

The solution

One connected operational lifecycle.

Arctech built a browser-based platform that connects registration and inquiry through scheduling, approval, delivery and feedback. Role-aware navigation exposes the appropriate journeys for external participants and internal teams.

Calendar-based availability checks react to changing dates, laboratories and equipment. Reusable templates, queued email processing, reminders and escalations automate recurring communication, while remarks, attachments and approval histories preserve decision context.

Inquiry & visits

Capture participant context, select labs and equipment, attach files and delegate responsibility.

Equipment booking

Calendar-led selection with overlap detection, approvals, rescheduling and consumable capture.

Events & engagement

Manage publication, speakers, registration, resources, feedback and shared calendar visibility.

Architecture

Separated by responsibility, connected by workflow.

A layered architecture keeps browser interactions, domain coordination, persistence, asynchronous work and communication independently maintainable.

Ongoing engineering partnership

Flexible capacity across multiple initiatives.

This platform forms part of a broader, ongoing vendor relationship. Arctech provides flexible access to engineering capacity across multiple client initiatives, allowing teams to draw on product-development and support expertise as priorities evolve.

Our engineers collaborate across new product capabilities, application enhancements, technical investigation and ongoing support. The model preserves continuity and product context while giving the client a practical way to scale specialist input around active work.

Product development

Cross-layer delivery spanning user journeys, APIs, workflow logic, persistence and communication.

Enhancement & investigation

Structured analysis and implementation for evolving requirements and production issues.

Delivery approach

End-to-end iteration.

Workflow changes were delivered across the UI, API contracts, business services, repositories, database procedures and communication templates as cohesive increments. Automated test assets cover both the Angular client and .NET API, supported by validation, centralized error handling and environment-specific configuration.

Conflict preventionProactive overlap checks guard affected resource-booking journeys.
Automated follow-upQueued messages, reminders and escalation paths reduce dependence on manual prompting.
Auditable contextStatus processing, remarks and approval history preserve the story behind each request.
